Macro shots of ice and snow, and we start to see objects like a gun, shovel, money buried in the ice, eventually arriving on the hand of a man desperately clutching a nugget of gold in his final act before death.

The hopes and dreams of man ultimately consumed by the unforgiving brutality of the harsh environment in their quest for wealth.

Using the environment as a metaphor, the snowflake reflects upon the fragility of life and a snowstorm the hysteria of the Gold Rush itself.
